Alissa DeRogatis

For a musician it doesn’t get any better than to hear what future artists are coming up with. So, meet Alissa DeRogatis.

Just 15 years old, she is singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist from southern New Jersey and she began her singing and playing career in the 4th grade. The self-taught writer aspires to one day attend college in Nashville and continue to pursue her musical dreams. For now, however, writing and performing will do just fine. In pursuit of a record deal, Alissa has a couple of songs on iTunes (with more on the way) and she has just been brought on to iHeartRadio’s new “Discover & Uncover” program.

I had the chance to recently speak with Alissa and my point in doing so was to search out new and upcoming artists in this ever-changing music culture where more and more younger persons are playing (and writing) music. I found her to be a shining, talented, and determined young artist but what really drew me to her was her passion for writing and writing about subjects that many people can relate to; rejection and relationships. Alissa, as a writer, is mature well beyond her years and she deserves a listen.
